Business
Synovus Financial Corp. is a financial services holding company that provides commercial and consumer banking products and services through its wholly-owned subsidiary Synovus Bank; offers specialized solutions including wealth services, treasury management, mortgage services, premium finance, asset-based lending, structured lending, capital markets, and international banking; and operates non-bank subsidiaries such as Synovus Securities for investment banking, brokerage, and portfolio management, Synovus Trust for trust and asset management, Synovus Mortgage for mortgage origination, Creative Financial Group for investment advisory, and Synovus Life Finance for life insurance premium financing. Synovus Bank, chartered in Georgia, maintains approximately 244 branches and 335 ATMs across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee, serving businesses, institutions, and individuals with commercial lending, real estate financing, deposit accounts, consumer loans, investment services, debit and credit cards, digital banking, merchant services, retirement plans, and health savings accounts. Founded in 1888 and headquartered in Columbus, Georgia, with about $61 billion in assets, the company targets the high-growth Southeastern U.S. markets and emphasizes relationship-based banking, digital transformation, and community development. In July 2025, Synovus entered a definitive agreement to combine with Pinnacle Financial Partners in an all-stock transaction valued at $8.6 billion, creating a leading regional bank focused on Southeastern growth markets with expected closure in the first quarter of 2026, 21% EPS accretion to Pinnacle by 2027, and $150 million in annual cost synergies; the deal aligns leadership, operating models, and brands under the Pinnacle name, with Synovus CEO Kevin Blair as CEO of the combined entity and continued commitments to employment and philanthropy in key communities including Columbus, Georgia.
