Business
Shelton Capital Management S&P 500 Index Investor Fund (SPFIX) is a passively managed mutual fund that seeks to replicate the total return of the U.S. stock market as measured by the S&P 500 Composite Stock Price Index by investing primarily in the common stocks of the 500 leading U.S. companies across a broad range of industries, with at least 80% of its total assets allocated to the underlying index stocks to approximate their market-cap weighting; the fund offers diversification across major market sectors, representing approximately 88% of the U.S. equity market on a market capitalization basis, and pays dividends quarterly with capital gains distributed annually in November. The fund, classified in the Large Blend category with a net expense ratio of 0.43%, targets individual investors, retirement plans, wealth managers, and institutions through minimum initial investments of $1,000 and additional investments of $100. Shelton Capital Management, the fund's adviser founded in 1985 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, manages over $5.4 billion in client assets as of March 31, 2025, across a suite of active and passive strategies including U.S. equity index funds, international equity, fixed income, ESG, and specialty offerings delivered via mutual funds and separately managed accounts primarily to U.S. clients. In December 2025, Shelton Capital Management entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Stringer Asset Management, adding risk-managed ETF-based portfolios and Stringer's experienced asset allocation team, which expands Shelton's offerings and increases total firm assets to over $7 billion while preserving strategy continuity. The SPFIX fund, launched on April 20, 1992, holds total net assets of approximately $278 million and maintains high correlation to its benchmark with reduced sensitivity to individual stock or sector movements.
