Business
Surrey Bancorp formerly operated as the holding company for Surrey Bank & Trust, a financial institution that historically delivered a comprehensive array of banking solutions to individuals and small to medium-sized enterprises. The bank’s operations primarily served communities within Surry County, North Carolina, and Patrick County, Virginia, alongside neighboring regions. Its offerings encompassed a full suite of deposit products, including checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, and individual retirement accounts, in addition to overdraft facilities. Furthermore, Surrey Bank & Trust was known for providing diverse lending options such as residential mortgages, various real estate loans, consumer and personal credit, lines of credit, and commercial financing products, including specialized government-guaranteed loans and credit cards. The institution also extended a variety of business services like cash management, international banking support, and merchant card processing, alongside electronic banking and safe deposit box services. Established in 2003 and headquartered in Mount Airy, North Carolina, Surrey Bancorp concluded its independent operations on April 21, 2023, when it was acquired by First Community Bankshares, Inc.. Following this merger, all seven branch locations of Surrey Bank & Trust in northwestern North Carolina and southwestern Virginia transitioned to operate under the First Community Bank brand.
