Business
Symrise AG is a global supplier specializing in fragrances, flavorings, cosmetic active ingredients and raw materials, as well as functional ingredients and solutions. The company operates through two main segments: Taste, Nutrition & Health and Scent & Care. The Taste, Nutrition & Health segment offers functional ingredients and product solutions for food and beverage manufacturers, savory flavors, natural and sustainable ingredients for food and beverage products, baby food, dietary supplements, pet food, aqua feed, and probiotics for food supplements and functional foods. The Scent & Care segment develops, produces, and sells fragrance ingredients and compositions, aroma molecules, cosmetic ingredients, and mint flavors used by manufacturers of perfumes, personal care products, cosmetics, cleaning products, detergents, air fresheners, and oral care products. Symrise manufactures and sells over 35,000 products based on more than 10,000 raw materials, primarily of natural origin, serving customers in over 100 countries worldwide. The company was founded in 1874 and is headquartered in Holzminden, Germany. Recently, Symrise has pursued strategic growth initiatives under its "ONE Symrise" strategy, emphasizing profitable, sustainable growth, innovation in health, well-being and beauty, and operational efficiency. In 2024, Symrise raised its financial outlook, forecasting organic sales growth exceeding 7% and EBITDA margin above 20%, with business free cash flow expected to surpass 12%. The company continues to focus on portfolio optimization, including plans to divest lower-margin operations in Aqua Feed in Costa Rica and Ecuador. Symrise has also advanced digital transformation and sustainability efforts, aiming for net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and integrating AI into product development and consumer research. The company delivered strong organic sales growth in 2024 across several regions, particularly in savory food products, pet food, and fragrances, with double-digit growth in specific markets such as Asia-Pacific and Latin America. Symrise's key recent developments include a healthy pipeline of sales opportunities, dynamic project activity with key customers, and an emphasis on innovation through patents and active research, contributing to about 15% of sales generated from new products. The company maintains a leading market share of approximately 12% in the global fragrances and flavors sector and operates production and sales sites in more than 30 countries, delivering products to 135 countries. It targets diverse customer segments including food and beverage producers, pet and aqua feed manufacturers, cosmetics and personal care brands, and cleaning product manufacturers. This ongoing strategic focus on growth, efficiency and portfolio diversification positions Symrise as a leading player in its industry, with comprehensive offerings that integrate natural and sustainable solutions aligned with evolving consumer trends and regulatory standards.
