- Syntax Stratified U.S. Total Market ETF (SYUS) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks capital growth meeting or exceeding the S&P Composite 1500 Index through stratified-weight exposure to approximately 90% of U.S. market capitalization across large-, mid-, and small-cap equities. The fund invests primarily in three underlying Syntax Stratified-Weight ETFs: Syntax Stratified LargeCap ETF (SSPY), Syntax Stratified MidCap ETF (SMDY), and Syntax Stratified SmallCap ETF (SSLY), which employ a proprietary methodology to diversify holdings by grouping and redistributing weights among companies sharing related business risks such as similar products, customers, competitors, or suppliers, thereby reducing concentration bias inherent in traditional market-cap weighting. Launched in March 2021 and sponsored by Syntax ETF Trust with Syntax Advisors, LLC as adviser, the ETF targets institutional and retail investors seeking diversified U.S. equity exposure and trades on NYSE Arca. In a major strategic reorganization completed on September 27, 2024, SYUS and related Syntax Stratified ETFs—including SMDY, SSLY, Syntax Stratified Total Market II ETF (SYII), and Syntax Stratified U.S. Total Market Hedged ETF (SHUS)—were reorganized into the Exchange Traded Concepts, LLC-managed Stratified LargeCap Index ETF (SSPY) and Stratified LargeCap Hedged ETF (SHUS), with SYUS shareholders receiving SSPY shares at an exchange ratio of 0.643992 based on relative net asset values. This partnership between Syntax Advisors and Exchange Traded Concepts enhances platform capabilities and fund updates, positioning the combined entities for growth while maintaining the core stratified-weighting approach rooted in Syntax's patented Functional Information System. Post-reorganization, SYUS effectively ceased independent operations as a distinct fund, with assets integrated into SSPY. Headquartered in New York and founded in 2009, Syntax Advisors focuses on stratified indexing within the U.S. equity asset management segment, with geographic operations centered in the United States.
