- MC Trio Equity Buffered ETF is an actively managed, non-diversified exchange-traded fund that seeks capital appreciation with limited downside protection through a portfolio of exchange-traded options referencing ETFs invested in U.S. large-capitalization equities, U.S. small-capitalization equities and international developed-market equities. The Fund, a series of EA Series Trust, is listed on Cboe BZX Exchange, Inc. under the ticker symbol TRIO and commenced operations on March 5, 2025. It is advised by Empowered Funds, LLC, doing business as EA Advisers, which is headquartered in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania; McCarthy & Cox Retirement & Estate Specialists, LLC, now operating as Kintra Investments, serves as investment sub-adviser and determines strategic asset allocations; and Arin Risk Advisors, LLC serves as trading sub-adviser, selecting option investments and broker-dealers and executing transactions. The Fund is managed by Wesley Bean and Previn Pandey of McCarthy & Cox and Lawrence Lempert of Arin. The Fund offers actively managed global equity exposure; customized Flexible Exchange Options (FLEX Options); long call, long put, short put and short call option structures; exposure to underlying ETFs tracking market-capitalization-weighted U.S. large-cap, U.S. small-cap and international developed-market equity benchmarks; downside buffers intended to mitigate a predetermined portion of losses, which may be approximately 10% for a specified investment period; and corresponding upside caps that limit potential gains in exchange for buffer protection. Under normal conditions, at least 80% of net assets, plus borrowings for investment purposes, are invested in instruments providing direct or indirect exposure to equity securities. Allocation decisions consider macroeconomic indicators including relative U.S. real GDP growth, employment data, earnings estimates and market valuations, with a general expectation that U.S. large-cap equity exposure represents the majority of assets and U.S. small-cap and international developed-market exposures represent smaller allocations. International developed-market exposure may include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The Fund may rebalance, unwind or roll option positions in response to market conditions, expiring contracts, capital-protection objectives or opportunities to lock in gains; it may also take temporary defensive positions in cash, U.S. government securities, money-market instruments, investment-grade fixed-income securities and related exchange-traded vehicles. The Fund charges a 0.70% annual management fee. Recent changes include the May 31, 2026 prospectus update and the repositioning of the product’s commercial identity within Kintra Investments, the successor brand to McCarthy & Cox; the Fund continues to be supported by the broader Kintra Wealth affiliate network and emphasizes monthly review of allocations, remaining buffers, caps and option maturities.
