Founded in 1933 through the merger of Kobe Boil Oil Co., Ltd. and Toyo Paint Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Shinto Paint is headquartered in Amagasaki-shi, Hyogo, Japan, and maintains overseas operations via affiliates in Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines. In recent developments, the company integrated Hokkaido Shinto Co. in 2023, resolved to dissolve its Shinto Paint Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. subsidiary in 2024 and became a consolidated subsidiary of Dai Nippon Toryo Co., Ltd. in 2025 through the latter's tender offer acquiring all shares from Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. and newly issued shares.
