- Corus Entertainment Inc. (TSX: CJR.B) is a leading Canadian media and content company that develops, delivers and distributes high-quality brands and content across multiple platforms for audiences around the world. Founded in 1999 as a spin-off from Shaw Communications, the company is headquartered at Corus Quay in Toronto, Ontario, and operates primarily in Canada with international content distribution reaching more than 160 countries. Its core operations encompass television, radio, content production and digital services; these include 25 specialty television services such as Global Television, W Network, Flavour Network, Home Network, The HISTORY Channel, Showcase, Slice, Adult Swim, National Geographic and Global News; 15 conventional television stations; 36 radio stations featuring leading news-talk, classic rock, country, new rock and contemporary music formats in top Canadian markets; digital and streaming platforms like STACKTV, TELETOON+, the Global TV App and Curiouscast; and content creation through subsidiaries Nelvana, a global leader in children's animated and live-action programming, and Corus Studios, which produces lifestyle series including Island of Bryan, Rust Valley Restorers and The Big Bake, alongside Kids Can Press publishing. Corus targets broad consumer audiences, including families, children and adults, with a focus on advertising, subscription and content licensing revenues primarily from Canada, which accounts for nearly all of its operations. In November 2025, Corus announced a proposed recapitalization transaction via a plan of arrangement under the Canada Business Corporations Act, supported by all senior credit facility lenders, over 74% of senior unsecured noteholders and the Shaw Family Living Trust holding more than 80% of Class A Voting Shares; this deal, subject to court, CRTC, shareholder and TSX approvals, aims to reduce third-party debt and liabilities by over $500 million, cut annual cash interest by up to $40 million, increase its senior secured revolving credit facility to $125 million, issue new secured notes and exchange most senior notes and existing shares for equity in a new holding company, thereby strengthening its balance sheet amid declining ad revenues and streaming competition.
