Business
Lotus Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Lotus Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. engages in the research, development, manufacture, and sale of generic and novel pharmaceuticals, with a primary focus on high-barrier oncology drugs including oral anti-cancer tablets and hard/softgel capsules; complex generics in cardiology, nephrology, central nervous system disorders, women's health, anti-obesity treatments, and osteoporosis medications; as well as 505(b)(2) products, new chemical entities, and biosimilars developed through internal R&D and licensing partnerships. Founded in 1966 and headquartered at 17F, No. 277 Songren Road, Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan, the company operates manufacturing facilities certified by leading regulators such as the US FDA, EU EMA, Japan PMDA, China NMPA, and Brazil ANVISA, supporting a portfolio of over 250 commercial products and more than 100 projects in development or registration. It maintains a global presence through direct operations in Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Hong Kong, China, and Japan, with partnerships extending to Indonesia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the United States, Europe, and Brazil, targeting patients and healthcare providers in these markets with affordable, high-quality medicines. In September 2025, Lotus Pharmaceutical entered a definitive agreement to acquire 100% equity interest in New Alvogen Group Holdings, Inc., which owns Alvogen US, a US-based specialty pharmaceutical company, for an enterprise value of up to US$2 billion in cash, preferred shares, and contingent earnouts, aiming to create a top 20 global specialty pharma player by doubling pro forma revenues and EBITDA, adding nearly 100 pipeline products including inhalation, long-acting injectables, and peptides, and gaining a dedicated US salesforce and FDA-approved manufacturing site. Taiwan's Department of Investment Review granted approval for the transaction in November 2025, positioning the deal for year-end closing pending final regulatory clearances and internal procedures. This acquisition builds on a decade-long partnership with Alvogen, enhancing Lotus' end-to-end platform across R&D, manufacturing, and commercialization in Asia and the US while expanding its specialty generics and differentiated offerings.
