Business
Taiwan Glass Ind. Corp. engages in the manufacturing, processing, and sale of a comprehensive range of glass products globally, with operations primarily in Taiwan and China. Founded in 1964 and headquartered in Taipei, the company operates across three main segments: flat glass, glass containers, and glass fiber. Its flat glass product portfolio includes float glass, processed glass, automotive glass, ultra-thin glass, photovoltaic cover glass, and various coated and energy-efficient glass types used in construction, automotive, electronics, and renewable energy sectors. In the glass container segment, Taiwan Glass produces containers for liquor, wine, beer, food, pharmaceuticals, and specialty cobalt blue containers, alongside household tableware and kitchenware such as bowls, plates, tumblers, wine glasses, mugs, pots, and other glass utensils. The glass fiber segment supplies fabric and fiberglass reinforced products for applications in electronics, yachts, building materials, industrial uses, engineering, and sports goods. The company also operates a glass recycling facility to reuse glass materials without quality loss. Recent strategic shifts include significant investments in digital automation and AI-driven production technologies to enhance operational efficiency and energy consumption. Taiwan Glass advances its market positioning by focusing on innovative products aligned with smart city initiatives and net-zero carbon emission policies, particularly expanding ultra-thin and photovoltaic glass for new energy vehicles and smart home applications. The company actively pursues green transformation and operational optimization consistent with international standards to bolster competitiveness amid structural market challenges in China and global overcapacity concerns. Taiwan Glass reported consolidated revenue of NT$42.5 billion and a net loss of NT$1.57 billion in 2024, reflecting the company's efforts to manage external economic pressures while maintaining strategic investment in sustainable growth and technological innovation. Taiwan Glass maintains a strong presence in Asia-Pacific markets and exports to North America, Europe, and Middle East regions. It is recognized for its high-quality glass products featured in architectural applications worldwide, including skyscrapers, through its selective use of coatings and finishing technologies. Its product applications span across construction, automotive, electronics, food and beverage packaging, and specialty consumer goods. The company continues to leverage extensive R&D and product diversification to sustain competitive pricing and profit margins. Taiwan Glass remains committed to prudent management and market responsiveness in a dynamically evolving glass industry landscape.
