Business
Tatung Co., Ltd. is a Taiwan-based conglomerate primarily engaged in manufacturing and selling a diverse range of electrical and electronic products. Its core product portfolio includes digital consumer products such as personal computers, liquid crystal display (LCD) televisions, plasma displays, network-connected devices, storage-based media players, videophones, and home appliances. The company also manufactures business computing products including tablet PCs, blade servers, and wireless thin clients. Tatung operates through several business units including Industrial Appliance, Motor, Wire & Cable, Solar, Smart Meter, System Integration, Appliance, and Advanced Electronics. Its geographic reach spans Taiwan, other parts of Asia, Europe, and America. Founded in 1950 and headquartered in New Taipei City, Taiwan, Tatung also offers energy-saving and green energy systems, including intelligent grids, photovoltaics, and energy control systems. Recent major changes include a strategic shift in its cable business to strengthen market diversification, aiming to increase the private sector sales share from 25% in 2024 to over 50% by expanding distributor networks and upgrading manufacturing equipment. In 2025, Tatung announced leadership changes including a new CEO appointment and directorate adjustments. The company also concluded an equity buyback program in early 2025 and secured a significant 10-year power purchase agreement for solar electricity with Air Products San Fu, reinforcing its commitment to renewable energy and sustainability initiatives. These moves align with Tatung's innovation focus on energy-saving, environmentally friendly products, and enhancing competitive strength in evolving markets. The company maintains manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and Thailand, including advanced electronics and home appliance production centers. This comprehensive product offering combined with strategic business shifts and leadership updates underscores Tatung's role as a diversified industrial and electronics supplier with a strong emphasis on green energy and market expansion.
