Business
Transport & Chartering Corp., commercially known as Vietfracht, is a Vietnam-based maritime transportation, shipbroking, shipping agency, and integrated logistics provider. The company operates across multiple segments in the transport, freight forwarding, and maritime services industry, delivering end-to-end supply chain solutions to industrial manufacturers, trading enterprises, international shipping lines, and global cargo owners. The company organizes its operations into several primary business and service lines: Shipping Agency and Port Husbanding Services: comprehensive port agency representation for dry bulk carriers, oil and chemical tankers, container vessels, and roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) ships; vessel inward and outward customs clearance; vessel husbanding, bunkering, provisions, and freshwater supply coordination; stevedoring and terminal cargo handling; vessel tallying and cargo inspection supervision; and cargo canvassing and container management. Shipbroking and Chartering: domestic and international chartering brokerage for dry bulk, breakbulk, agricultural commodities, minerals, and heavy-lift project cargo; voyage chartering, time chartering, and bareboat chartering arrangements; contract of affreightment (COA) negotiation; and ship sale and purchase (S&P) advisory services. Multimodal Freight Forwarding and Logistics: international ocean freight forwarding comprising full container load (FCL) and less-than-container load (LCL) shipments; international air freight forwarding; domestic inland trucking and container haulage; cross-border road freight; customs brokerage, regulatory compliance, and tariff consultation; transit cargo processing; and specialized out-of-gauge (OOG) and project cargo transportation. Warehousing and Container Depot Operations: general and bonded warehouse storage; container freight station (CFS) operations; inland container depot (ICD) management; container storage, inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and repair; and value-added inventory management, packaging, labeling, and distribution. Maritime Crew Management: recruitment, screening, technical training, certification, and deployment of qualified seafarers and marine crew for domestic and international shipowners and vessel operators. Founded in 1963 as the Vietnam Foreign Trade Transportation Corporation and restructured into a joint-stock company in 2006, Transport & Chartering Corp. is headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam, and trades on the UPCoM market of the Hanoi Stock Exchange under the ticker VFR. The company operates an extensive nationwide network of branch offices and operating centers located in Vietnam's key port hubs and commercial gateways, including Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, and Quy Nhon, connecting Vietnamese trade flows with global shipping routes across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The corporation maintains active memberships in prominent international and domestic industry bodies, including the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), the Federation of National Associations of Ship Brokers and Agents (FONASBA), and the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA). In recent strategic developments, Transport & Chartering Corp. has executed significant structural and operational realignments to optimize its capital structure and business focus. The company has advanced an asset-light transformation strategy, prioritizing high-margin freight forwarding, specialized logistics, and third-party warehousing services to mitigate exposure to volatile vessel ownership cycles and shipping asset debt. As part of its portfolio rationalization, the company has completed capital restructuring and divestment initiatives from non-core joint ventures, including reallocating equity interests in joint entities such as Dimerco Vietfracht. Concurrently, the corporation has expanded its inland logistics footprint through its specialized subsidiary network, notably enhancing storage capacity and distribution infrastructure at Vietfracht Hung Yen Logistics. Operationally, the company has upgraded its digital logistics infrastructure, implementing modern cargo-tracking, electronic customs clearance, and digital documentation systems to optimize freight workflows, strengthen corporate governance, and support expanding cross-border trade corridors.
