Business
United Rail, Inc. is a Jacksonville, Florida-based railroad systems, products, and engineering services company founded in 2012. It operates primarily in North America with a wholly owned subsidiary in Toronto, Canada. The company specializes in signal engineering services, consulting, and the development and distribution of rail technology products. Its core product portfolio includes the Sentinel Solutions™, a remote asset monitoring system for railroad infrastructure, and it provides sales representation, distribution, and customer support for several European rail technology brands in the US market, such as Amberg Technologies, BBR Rail Automation, and Prover Technology. United Rail also offers engineering design services focused on signal and communication systems, including PTC integration and legacy system modernization, alongside project management and consulting services. In the past two years, United Rail has expanded its presence through strategic acquisitions, including its 2018 acquisition of U S Rail Holdings, which broadened its short-line railroad operations and service offerings such as transloading, private industrial railcar switching, track maintenance, railcar repair, and railcar storage. This acquisition also established U S Rail’s Toledo-based offices as a major operational hub for the company’s network. United Rail actively pursues consolidation of smaller railroads to enhance its market footprint. The company recently secured a new partnership and enhanced its North American presence through collaboration with Prover Technology, strengthening its product and engineering service offerings. These moves reflect United Rail’s strategic shift towards integrated rail systems solutions and regional railroad operations consolidation. United Rail's industry focus includes short-line railroad consolidation, rail signal engineering, rail infrastructure monitoring, and rail technology distribution primarily targeting freight and transit rail operators across the United States and Canada. Its offerings combine proprietary technologies, international product representations, and engineering services designed to support rail safety, efficiency, and modernization. The company leverages an international footprint and experience to provide advanced rail signaling and communication solutions and to support networks of smaller regional railroads under its management.
