Business
United States 3x Short Oil Fund (USOD) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, corresponding to three times the inverse (-300%) of the daily percentage change of the front-month futures contract on light, sweet crude oil traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), also known as the Benchmark Oil Futures Contract. The fund invests primarily in short positions in derivatives, including futures contracts on light sweet crude oil, other types of crude oil, diesel, heating oil, gasoline, natural gas and other petroleum-based fuels traded on NYMEX, ICE Futures Exchange or other U.S. and foreign exchanges; it may also utilize swap agreements, forward contracts, options and other similar agreements to achieve its leveraged inverse exposure. USOD operates in the commodities sector, targeting investors seeking leveraged short exposure to oil prices, with shares trading on the NYSE Arca exchange; it is sponsored and managed by United States Commodity Funds LLC (USCF), a subsidiary of The Marygold Companies, Inc., based in Walnut Creek, California. Launched on July 20, 2017, USOD provides sophisticated daily leveraged inverse performance tied to WTI crude oil futures without requiring direct futures trading or margin accounts. The fund is part of USCF's broader portfolio of commodity-based exchange-traded products, which emphasizes energy and alternative investments. Geographically, it focuses on U.S.-listed oil futures contracts while serving a global investor base through exchange trading. In recent developments, USCF Investments, the fund's sponsor, launched the USCF Oil Plus Bitcoin Strategy Fund (WTIB) on December 15, 2025, marking its first cryptocurrency-linked ETF that combines oil futures with Bitcoin exposure and manages over $3 billion in assets across its offerings. This expansion reflects USCF's ongoing innovation in commodity and alternative strategies, building on its pioneering role since introducing the first U.S. oil ETP in 2006. No major acquisitions, partnerships or operational changes specific to USOD have been reported in the last 1-2 years.
