Business
Vector Acquisition Corporation was established in 2020 as a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, formed with the primary objective of entering into a business combination with one or more entities. The firm, based in San Francisco, California, launched its initial public offering in September 2020, raising $300 million to pursue its acquisition strategy. Backed by technology investor Alex Slusky and the Vector Capital platform, the company sought to identify and merge with a promising technology or technology-enabled business. This pursuit culminated in a definitive merger agreement with Rocket Lab USA, Inc., a prominent global leader in launch and space systems, announced in March 2021. Following shareholder approval on August 20, 2021, Vector Acquisition Corporation completed its reverse merger with Rocket Lab USA, Inc. on August 25, 2021. Upon the transaction's close, Vector Acquisition Corporation ceased to exist as an independent entity, adopting the name Rocket Lab USA, Inc., with its shares subsequently trading under the new ticker symbol RKLB on the Nasdaq.
