Vanguard U.S. Liquidity Factor ETF (VFLQ) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in U.S. common stocks exhibiting relatively lower measures of trading liquidity, selected through a rules-based quantitative model evaluating factors relative to the broad U.S. equity market. The fund targets all-capitalization U.S. equities across sectors including finance, industrials, healthcare, and technology, with holdings such as manufacturing, finance and insurance, and information sector companies; it features a dividend yield of approximately 1.46% and maintains exposure to small, mid, and large cap stocks. Issued and managed by The Vanguard Group, Inc., founded in 1975 and headquartered in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, the ETF operates within the U.S. equity factor investing segment, serving advisor and retail investors seeking targeted low-liquidity factor exposure.
Launched in February 2018 as part of Vanguard's suite of active factor ETFs, VFLQ did not achieve sufficient assets under management, peaking at around $44.2 million. In September 2022, Vanguard announced the fund's liquidation—its first-ever closure of a U.S.-listed ETF—citing a comprehensive review of its product lineup to align with evolving client needs and the ETF's failure to gain scale despite a capable advisor and sound factor-based approach. The ETF was delisted from Cboe BZX Exchange on or about November 22, 2022, with remaining assets sold and proceeds distributed to shareholders shortly thereafter; no relaunches, acquisitions, or strategic shifts have been reported since completion of the liquidation.
