Business
Veoneer, Inc. designs, develops, manufactures, and sells automotive safety electronics, with a primary focus on restraint control systems including electronic control units, crash sensors, and seatbelt pretensioner controllers for airbag deployment and occupant protection. The company also provides advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) components such as radar sensors, lidar solutions, mono- and stereo-vision cameras, night vision systems, driver monitoring equipment, and software for highly automated and autonomous driving; these products support collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, and interior sensing technologies. Veoneer serves major global automakers as customers, operating primarily in North America, Europe, and Asia from facilities including its headquarters in Southfield, Michigan, and additional sites in Sweden, Germany, and China. Founded in 2018 as a spin-off from Autoliv's electronics and automated driving divisions and incorporated in Delaware with Swedish roots, Veoneer has undergone significant strategic realignments in recent years. Following its 2022 acquisition by Qualcomm and SSW Partners for $4.5 billion, the company divested its Arriver software business to Qualcomm and its Active Safety division to Magna International in 2023; most recently, in February 2024, American Industrial Partners Capital Fund VII completed the acquisition of Veoneer's core Restraint Control Systems business from SSW Partners, positioning it for long-term growth under new ownership while equipping nearly one in four global vehicles with its life-saving technology.
