Business
Vast Renewables Limited (VSTE) develops and sells concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) systems, including its proprietary CSP v3.0 technology featuring modular sodium heat transfer loops and molten salt thermal energy storage; these systems generate, store and dispatch carbon-free utility-scale electricity and industrial heat, while enabling production of green fuels such as green methanol, sustainable aviation fuel and hydrogen. The company targets data centers, off-grid power applications, process heat, aviation and shipping industries, with operations centered in Australia and a multi-gigawatt global project pipeline spanning North America, Europe and the Middle East. Founded in 2009 and headquartered in North Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Vast Renewables operates as a subsidiary of Agcentral Energy Pty Limited and employs approximately 54 people. Key projects under development include the 30 MW Vast Solar 1 in Port Augusta with 8 hours of storage for grid power and co-located renewable methanol production, Solar Methanol 1, SiliconAurora Pty Ltd and EDF Australia, alongside 230 MW of Australian projects. Recent advancements feature the successful launch of a first-of-its-kind CSP receiver tower in Queensland for full-scale testing and deployment at Vast Solar 1. In August 2025, the company secured US$3.5 million in convertible note funding from investors Nabors Industries and Canberra Airport Group to accelerate the Port Augusta Green Energy Hub, with environmental approvals and grid connections progressing toward financial investment decision by end-2025; earlier in fiscal 2025, Vast accessed up to AUD30 million from an AUD65 million ARENA grant for manufacturing and project development.
