Business
Vanguard Wellington U.S. Growth Active ETF (Cboe BZX: VUSG) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund offered by The Vanguard Group, Inc. that seeks long-term capital appreciation through a concentrated portfolio of primarily U.S. large-capitalization growth equities. The fund employs fundamental stock selection and generally invests at least 80% of assets in securities issued by U.S. companies, emphasizing businesses with above-average earnings and revenue growth that drive or benefit from innovation in products and services. Its investment universe spans sectors including technology, consumer discretionary, health care, industrials, real estate, energy and utilities; the Russell 1000 Growth Index serves as its benchmark. The ETF is designed for individual investors, financial advisers, institutions and retirement-plan participants seeking actively managed domestic growth-equity exposure in an ETF structure. VUSG offers ETF shares traded on Cboe BZX U.S. Equities Exchange; active portfolio management by Wellington Management Company LLP; exposure to a typically concentrated portfolio of approximately 30 to 60 growth-oriented companies; fundamental research-led security selection; daily ETF liquidity and portfolio transparency; and annual income distributions, when declared. The fund carried a 0.35% expense ratio, held 38 securities as of May 31, 2026, and reported net assets of approximately $27.8 million. Wellington Management, a Boston, Massachusetts-based institutional investment manager founded in 1928, has advised VUSG since 2025; Michael Masdea and Brian Barbetta serve as portfolio managers. VUSG was launched on November 14, 2025, as part of Vanguard’s strategic expansion of its actively managed equity ETF lineup and its longstanding investment-management relationship with Wellington Management. The launch coincided with the introduction of the Vanguard Wellington U.S. Value Active ETF and Vanguard Wellington Dividend Growth Active ETF, extending Vanguard’s active-management offerings beyond its established active mutual fund and bond ETF platforms. VUSG’s investment strategy and management approach are similar to Wellington Management’s portion of Vanguard Global Equity Fund, which Wellington has managed since 2022, while remaining a standalone product distinct from Vanguard U.S. Growth Fund. Vanguard, founded in 1975 and headquartered in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, provides investment products, advisory services and retirement services to individual investors, institutions and financial professionals and operates under an investor-owned structure in which Vanguard fund shareholders own the funds and the funds own Vanguard.
