Business
XXL ASA operates as a multi-sports retailer primarily in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Austria, with headquarters in Oslo, Norway. Founded in 2000, the company offers a broad range of products categorized into sports equipment and sportswear for various sports including running, football, golf, water sports, racket sports, and ice hockey; fitness equipment such as treadmills and rowing machines; and food supplements and nutrition products. It supplies clothing for men, women, and children including baselayers, outerwear, casual wear, sportswear, and swimwear, as well as lifestyle and winter shoes. XXL also provides outdoor and hunting products for fishing, wilderness living, and camping including tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, cooking equipment, and climbing gear; hunting products such as firearms, ammunition, clothes, binoculars, optics, knives, and axes; skis and ski accessories including shoes, poles, clothes, and equipment for cross-country and downhill skiing and snowboarding; a variety of bikes including hybrid, mountain, city, and electric bikes for all age groups; and bike equipment like helmets, shoes, spare parts, and clothes. Additionally, XXL integrates technology with sports and outdoor products, offering sport watches, action cameras, drones, GPS devices, earplugs, headphones, portable loudspeakers, sunglasses, pulse meters, power banks, and cycle computers. The company operates e-commerce platforms including xxl.no, xxl.se, and xxl.fi. In recent developments, XXL ASA became a subsidiary of Frasers Group Plc in May 2025, following a strategic partnership initiated in 2024 aimed at leveraging synergies in product sourcing, servicing, brand partnerships, and financing. This collaboration supports XXL’s ongoing Reset & Rethink strategy launched in 2023, which focuses on store restructuring, accelerating e-commerce growth, expanding own and controlled brands, and enhancing service offerings. The partnership with Frasers Group also involves access to the Group’s controlled brands and expertise in store elevation and brand sourcing. XXL ASA is one of the largest sports retailers in the Nordic region, operating through several subsidiaries including XXL Sport og Villmark AS, XXL Sports & Outdoor GmbH, and XXL Sports & Outdoor OY, with a centralized operating model and an omnichannel sales approach. It is publicly listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange under the ticker XXLLY. The company targets a broad customer base ranging from casual sports enthusiasts to outdoor and hunting professionals across Northern Europe. Its comprehensive product portfolio and strategic alignment with Frasers Group position it for continued growth and market leadership in the specialty retail and consumer discretionary sectors.
