Business
Zimplats Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Impala Platinum Holdings Limited, engages in the production of platinum group metals and associated base metals from the Great Dyke in Zimbabwe; its principal products include platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium, nickel, gold, copper, cobalt, and silver, produced through underground mining operations at Ngezi, with concentrating, smelting, and refining facilities at the Selous Metallurgical Complex. The company operates as a vertically integrated miner, serving global markets in the automotive, petrochemical, electronics, and jewelry industries that utilize PGMs for catalytic converters, chemical processes, and electrical components. Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Saint Peter Port, Guernsey, Zimplats maintains its core operations exclusively in Zimbabwe, approximately 150 kilometers southwest of Harare, under mining leases ML36 and ML37. In recent developments, Zimplats secured a substantial SEK 280 million ($30 million) equipment order from Sandvik in Q3 2025 to expand underground mining capabilities at Ngezi; the company launched a $54 million, 45 MW solar power project in November 2025 to enhance energy security for its operations; and it advanced development of the Mupani Mine as a replacement for existing shafts, alongside reporting 5% higher mining production and 6% increased PGM output for FY2024.
