Business
Podravka d.d. is a Croatia-based multinational consumer goods and pharmaceutical company engaged in the manufacturing, processing, marketing, and distribution of food products, agricultural commodities, and pharmaceutical formulations. Founded in 1947 and headquartered in Koprivnica, Croatia, the company operates primarily across three core business segments: Food, Agriculture, and Pharmaceuticals. The company's Food portfolio comprises over 1,900 products across various categories, including universal and specialty food seasonings under the Vegeta and Podravka Natur brands; dehydrated soups, bouillons, and culinary meal solutions; canned vegetables, condiments, and processed tomato products; canned fish and seafood specialities under the Eva brand; canned and preserved meats, pâtés, and prepared ready meals; breakfast cereals, baby food, and sweet spreads marketed under the Lino, Čokolino, and Lino Lada brands; dessert powders, baking aids, and confectionery under the Dolcela brand; bakery, pasta, and milling goods under Žito and Zlato Polje; and teas and beverages. Through its pharmaceutical subsidiary, Belupo d.d., the company manufactures and distributes prescription generic pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, dietary supplements, and dermatological cosmetics, with primary therapeutic focus on cardiovascular, central nervous system, and dermatological treatments. Podravka distributes its products across more than 60 countries worldwide, with principal markets in Southeast Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Western Europe, and North America. In recent strategic developments, Podravka completed the milestone 333 million euro acquisition of the agricultural division of Fortenova Group in January 2025, consolidating prominent agricultural and farming entities including Belje, PIK Vinkovci, Vupik, Energija Gradec, Belje Agro-Vet, and Felix under a newly established subsidiary, Podravka Agri. To support this integration, the company initiated a 200 million euro agricultural investment cycle running through 2030, targeting farm modernization, irrigation infrastructure, and livestock feed capacity expansion. This expansion follows the conclusion of Podravka's multi-year 250 million euro industrial modernization program, which added several major operational assets, including a 48 million euro automated Logistics and Distribution Centre in Koprivnica, a 13 million euro industrial tomato processing plant in Varaždin, and a 15 million euro specialized pasta production factory in Koprivnica.
