AbbVie Inc. (NYSE: ABBV) is a global research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops, manufactures and commercializes innovative medicines across immunology, oncology, neuroscience, eye care, aesthetics, virology and gastroenterology. Founded in 2013 as a spin-off from Abbott Laboratories and headquartered in North Chicago, Illinois, the company operates in more than 70 countries with approximately 55,000 employees worldwide. Its core products include Humira (adalimumab) for autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis; Skyrizi (risankizumab) and Rinvoq (upadacitinib), both interleukin inhibitors for immunology indications; Imbruvica (ibrutinib) and Venclexta (venetoclax) for oncology; Vraylar (cariprazine) for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder; Botox for aesthetics; Mavyret (glecaprevir/pibrentasvir) for hepatitis C; and Epkinly (epcoritamab) for blood cancers, among others including Duopa/Duodopa, Ubrelvy and Vyalev in neuroscience and pipeline candidates for Parkinson's disease. AbbVie markets its portfolio to patients, healthcare providers and health systems globally, with major revenue contributions from the United States and international markets. In recent developments, the company completed acquisitions of ImmunoGen for $10.1 billion in 2024 to bolster ovarian cancer treatments with Elahere, Cerevel Therapeutics for $8.7 billion to expand neuroscience, Aliada Therapeutics for $1.4 billion, Nimble Therapeutics and Capstan Therapeutics in 2024-2025 for immunology enhancements, and Gilgamesh Pharmaceuticals in 2025 for a psychiatry drug bretisilocin valued up to $1.2 billion; it also announced partnerships such as $1.64 billion with Neomorph for molecular glue degraders and licensing from Gubra for obesity treatments, alongside over 30 deals since 2024 and manufacturing expansions including a $195 million API facility and $70 million biologics site in the U.S. to support over $10 billion in domestic investments.
