Business
Adaptive Biotechnologies Corporation Adaptive Biotechnologies Corporation (ADPT) develops an immune medicine platform that harnesses the adaptive immune system to create clinical diagnostics, research tools, and therapeutic insights through high-throughput sequencing of T-cell receptors (TCRs) and B-cell receptors (BCRs); its core products and services include clonoSEQ, an FDA-cleared minimal residual disease (MRD) test for monitoring blood cancers such as multiple myeloma, acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL); immunoSEQ, a research-use-only platform for immune repertoire profiling used by academic, pharmaceutical, and biotech researchers in biomarker discovery and therapeutic development; T-Detect, a T-cell-based diagnostic platform targeting diseases like Lyme disease, Crohn's disease, multiple sclerosis, and infectious conditions; and immune medicine solutions encompassing pharma services and drug discovery partnerships. Founded in 2009 by brothers Chad Robins and Harlan Robins along with Christopher Carlson, and headquartered in Seattle, Washington, with additional facilities in South San Francisco, California, the company operates primarily in the United States, serving clinical, research, and biopharmaceutical customers focused on oncology, autoimmune disorders, and infectious diseases. Recent developments include the August 2025 termination of its multi-year collaboration with Genentech, a Roche subsidiary, which ended exclusivity obligations in oncology cell therapies and enabled recognition of approximately $41.2 million in non-cash revenue across 2025 while allowing Adaptive Biotechnologies to pivot toward digital TCR-antigen prediction models, new partnering opportunities, and a T-cell depletion program in autoimmunity; ongoing expansion of clonoSEQ adoption with projected 35% growth in fiscal 2025 test volumes; and strategic emphasis on profitability through controlled operating expenses amid $170 million in 2023 revenues and $158 million for the first nine months of 2024.
