Business
AAK AB (publ.) develops, produces and markets value-adding plant-based oils and fats for food manufacturers, foodservice operators and other industrial customers worldwide. The company operates through three main segments: Food Ingredients, which offers baking fats, dairy fat alternatives, ice cream fats, infant formula ingredients and other oil and fat solutions for bakery, dairy and ice cream, plant-based foods, special nutrition and foodservice industries; Chocolate & Confectionery Fats, which provides specialty fats for chocolate, spreads, fillings and confectionery products as well as emollients for personal care applications including sun care, hair care, color cosmetics, deodorants, wet wipes and diaper coatings; and Technical Products & Feed, which supplies natural emulsifiers, fatty acids, glycerin, candle waxes, deinking chemicals and animal feed ingredients. AAK maintains production facilities in 19 sites across Europe, North and South America and Asia, including Sweden, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Mexico, Uruguay, Malaysia and Indonesia, supported by 25 regional sales offices and 16 customer innovation centers serving a global customer base. Founded in 2005 through the merger of Aarhus United A/S (1871) and Karlshamns AB (1918) and headquartered in Malmö, Sweden, AAK employs approximately 4,000 people and lists its shares on Nasdaq Stockholm under the ticker AAK in the Food & Beverage sector. Recent developments include a joint venture with Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK) to strengthen supply of specialty palm fractions; the launch of AkoVita OptiSyn™, a new solution for metabolic health; expansion of its Hastings, UK facility and investment in a new Foodservice operations and logistics site in Dalby, Sweden; a partnership with Vista Processed Foods in India to address demand for plant-based meat alternatives; a public-private initiative in Ghana targeting sustainable shea sourcing for 13,000 women farmers; renewal of its sustainable palm oil partnership in Indonesia with Musim Mas and Nestlé; achievement of Great Place to Work certification in 16 countries; and appointment of Nese Tagma as President of Sourcing, Trading & Sustainability, alongside announcements signaling intent for acquisitions following profitability gains.
