Business
Arm Holdings plc (ARM) designs and licenses energy-efficient processor intellectual property (IP) and related technologies for semiconductors used in mobile devices, consumer electronics, automotive systems, data centers, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The company offers a broad portfolio of products including Arm Cortex-A processors for high-performance computing; Arm Cortex-M processors for embedded microcontrollers; Arm Neoverse platforms for cloud and edge infrastructure; Arm Mali GPUs for graphics and machine learning acceleration; Arm Ethos NPUs for neural processing; and software tools such as Arm Keil MDK, Arm Compiler, and Arm Virtual Hardware for development and simulation. Arm provides flexible licensing models including royalty-bearing IP licenses and architectural licenses, enabling partners to integrate its designs into custom chips; it also delivers system IP, software platforms, and design services through its global ecosystem. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Cambridge, United Kingdom, Arm operates worldwide with offices in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and other regions, serving customers including major semiconductor manufacturers, device makers, and hyperscalers in the consumer electronics, automotive, enterprise, and industrial segments. In recent developments, Arm has expanded its AI capabilities with the launch of the Armv9.2-A architecture and Compute Subsystems (CSS) in 2024-2025, strengthening its position in high-performance computing and generative AI; the company completed its initial public offering on Nasdaq in September 2023 following its separation from SoftBank Group, and continues to form strategic partnerships with firms like NVIDIA and MediaTek for next-generation chip designs amid growing demand for edge AI processing.
