Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Greenwood Village, Colorado, Arq operates the only vertically integrated activated carbon supply chain in North America, producing domestically sourced activated carbon products which support environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives. The company completed a significant acquisition in February 2023 of 100% equity interests, assets, and liabilities of Arq Limited subsidiaries, expanding access to bituminous coal feedstock and manufacturing capability in Corbin, Kentucky, to develop advanced GAC products for broader market applications. In 2024 and 2025, Arq has undergone major strategic and operational developments, including rebranding from Advanced Emissions Solutions to Arq, securing a $30 million asset-backed lending facility to enhance financial flexibility, and completing construction of its Red River GAC facility. The company achieved first GAC production by early 2025 and is ramping up to a full nameplate capacity of 25 million pounds of GAC annually, with approximately 16 million pounds already contracted and ongoing negotiations for remaining capacity.
