Business
Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, S.A.B. de C.V. Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, S.A.B. de C.V. operates, maintains, and develops a portfolio of airports primarily in southeastern Mexico, as well as select facilities in Colombia and Puerto Rico; the company holds concessions for nine key Mexican airports including Cancún International Airport, Cozumel International Airport, Bahías de Huatulco International Airport, Mérida International Airport, Minatitlán International Airport, Oaxaca International Airport, Tapachula International Airport, Veracruz International Airport, and Villahermosa International Airport, alongside six Colombian airports such as José María Córdova International Airport in Rionegro, Olaya Herrera Airport in Medellín, Los Garzones Airport in Montería, El Caraño Airport in Quibdó, Antonio Roldán Betancourt Airport in Carepa, and Las Brujas Airport in Corozal, plus a 60% stake in Aerostar Airport Holdings, LLC, which manages Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It provides comprehensive aeronautical services encompassing runway maintenance, air traffic control, passenger terminal management, ground handling, security screening, firefighting, rescue operations, and aircraft maintenance, supplemented by non-aeronautical revenue streams from retail space rentals, parking facilities, food and beverage concessions, and commercial advertising; the company serves domestic and international airlines including American Airlines, United Airlines, Viva Aerobus, Volaris, and Aeroméxico, catering to leisure tourists, business travelers, and cargo operators across approximately 120 destinations with over 41 million passengers at Mexican airports and additional volumes from Caribbean and South American sites in 2024. Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Mexico City at Bosque de Alisos No. 47A, Bosques de las Lomas, the operator targets high-traffic tourism hubs in Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Tabasco, and Chiapas, extending to northern Colombia and Puerto Rico, while generating revenues through passenger charges, landing fees, and commercial exploitation with a focus on sustainability initiatives like solar energy procurement. In a major strategic expansion announced on November 18, 2025, the company signs a purchase agreement with Motiva Infraestrutura de Mobilidade S.A. to acquire all equity in Companhia de Participações em Concessões for approximately US$936 million (roughly 50 billion Brazilian reais), incorporating 20 additional airports in Brazil, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Curaçao to boost annual passenger volume by over 45 million, with transaction closure anticipated in the first half of 2026 subject to regulatory approvals; this follows robust revenue growth of 17.9% in January-September 2025 driven by strategic investments, alongside ongoing infrastructure upgrades including terminal expansions and technology modernization totaling hundreds of millions in capital expenditures.
