Business
Grupo Aeroméxico, S.A.B. de C.V. is a Mexican airline holding company that operates as the principal airline of Mexico through its subsidiaries Aeroméxico and Aeroméxico Connect. It provides comprehensive passenger air transportation services including domestic, international, and regional flights; cargo transportation services through Aeroméxico Cargo; and related ancillary services. The company offers multiple cabin classes such as business and economy, with plans to roll out a new business economy seat class in 2027 to enhance its premium offerings. Aeroméxico operates a fleet of over 110 aircraft, including an ongoing fleet modernization program focused on integrating newer, more efficient Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to improve operational efficiency and sustainability. The airline maintains extensive route networks serving over 50 international cities across 22 countries in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, with a strong presence in major Mexican cities including Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Cancún, and Puerto Vallarta. It is the only Mexican full-service carrier that is a founding member of the global airline alliance SkyTeam, partnering closely with Delta Air Lines, with which it has a strategic alliance that includes joint route expansions and maintenance facilities. Founded in 1934 and headquartered in Mexico City, Grupo Aeroméxico completed a Chapter 11 reorganization in 2022, resulting in a more agile cost structure and positioning for profitable growth. The company delisted from the Mexican Stock Exchange in 2022 and has announced plans to relist on the New York Stock Exchange or Nasdaq by the end of 2024. Recent strategic initiatives include expanding its route network with over 15 new routes focused on strengthening US connections and launching new flights to European cities such as Barcelona and Paris starting spring 2026. The company continues to invest in fleet expansion and product improvements to enhance passenger experience and maintain its market leadership as Mexico’s airline of choice. Grupo Aeroméxico employs over 17,000 people and generates revenues predominantly from passenger travel, air cargo operations, and ancillary services across Mexico, the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
