Business
Catalyst Metals Limited (ASX:CYL) is an Australia-based gold producer and explorer focused on developing and operating gold projects across key Australian gold belts; its primary activities encompass gold mining, mineral exploration, and evaluation for gold and silver deposits, with flagship operations including the Plutonic Gold Mine and associated projects in Western Australia, alongside exploration assets in Victoria's Bendigo region such as the Four Eagles, Tandarra, Raydarra, Sebastian, and Macorna Bore projects. The company produces approximately 85,000 ounces of gold annually at the Plutonic Gold Mine, located 195 kilometers northeast of Meekatharra in Western Australia's mid-west region, utilizing an existing 3 million tonnes per annum processing plant; it reports mineral resources of 3.2 million ounces and ore reserves of 0.9 million ounces across its portfolio, supported by a strong balance sheet featuring A$98 million in cash and no debt. Founded in 2006 and headquartered at Level 9, 150 St Georges Terrace, West Perth, the company operates primarily in Western Australia and Victoria, targeting high-grade gold deposits to build a mid-tier producer. Recent developments include the June 2025 acquisition of the Old Highway Gold Project from Sandfire Resources to expand its Plutonic Gold Belt holdings; plans to bring three new underground mines—Plutonic East (first ore in early 2025), K2, and another—into production over the next 12-18 months at a combined capital cost of A$31 million, feeding the central processing plant; a November 2025 settlement securing full ownership of a key Plutonic belt area; divestment of the Henty Gold Mine in Tasmania to Kaiser Reef in a A$31.6 million deal in March 2025 to sharpen focus on Western Australian assets; and a buyout of its joint venture partner Aureka for the remaining 49% stake in the Victorian Tandarra project.
