Business
AUO Corporation, founded in 1996 and headquartered in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, specializes in the research, development, manufacturing, and marketing of optoelectronic display panels and solutions; it offers a diverse portfolio of panel products for TV, monitors, notebooks, mobile devices, wearable devices, car displays, public displays, and general displays, alongside system products including digital signage, LED video walls, and content management systems (CMS); the company also provides industrial intelligence solutions such as manufacturing operations management systems and roll-to-roll automated optical inspection (AOI), with vertical applications spanning smart mobility, retail, healthcare, energy, enterprise, education, and smart manufacturing, serving customers across Asia, the United States, Europe, Japan, Singapore, and other international markets. AUO pursues a biaxial transformation strategy centered on three pillars—display technology featuring advanced Micro LED, AmLED, sensing, and eye-care innovations; mobility solutions encompassing human-machine interfaces, vehicle systems, smart cockpits, and integrated sensing software; and vertical solutions integrating display-centric AIoT technologies for sectors like retail, medical, transportation, and industrial applications—with a global workforce of approximately 41,000 employees and 2024 consolidated net revenues of USD 8.57 billion. In recent developments, AUO changed its name from AU Optronics Corp. to AUO Corporation in June 2022; its subsidiary AUO Display Plus acquired Avocor in 2025 to bolster interactive display solutions for education and enterprise markets, building on prior investments since 2022; AUO completed the acquisition of German automotive firm Behr-Hella Thermocontrol GmbH (BHTC) in 2024 for approximately €600 million to enhance its smart mobility portfolio; and in November 2024, the company announced the establishment of wholly-owned subsidiary AUO Mobility Solution Corporation (AMS), integrating its Mobility Solution Business Group and BHTC operations effective January 1, 2026, to accelerate automotive sector expansion, R&D efficiency, and global market penetration.
