With approximately 112,000 employees, BASF serves diverse industries including automotive, construction, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, energy, and electronics across nearly every country worldwide through its integrated Verbund sites and global production network. Recent developments include a binding agreement in October 2025 to sell its automotive OEM coatings, automotive refinish coatings, and surface treatment businesses to funds managed by Carlyle in partnership with Qatar Investment Authority for an enterprise value of €7.7 billion, expected to close in Q2 2026, with BASF retaining a 40% equity stake; a strategic collaboration announced in October 2025 with International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. to accelerate enzyme and polymer technologies for fabric, dish, personal care, and industrial cleaning; ongoing expansions such as MDI capacity increases in Geismar, Louisiana, targeting startup in 2026, and a new Verbund site in Zhanjiang, China; and planned capital expenditures of €5.0 billion in 2025 focused on core businesses and green transformation.
