Business
Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P. (BEP) owns and operates a globally diversified portfolio of renewable power generation assets focused on hydroelectric, wind, solar, distributed generation, pumped storage, and battery storage facilities; it also develops and provides sustainable solutions including renewable natural gas, carbon capture and storage, recycling, cogeneration, biomass, nuclear services, eFuels, and power transformation services. The company, founded in 2011 as a spin-off from Brookfield Asset Management and headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, maintains over 33,000 megawatts of installed capacity across North America, South America including Brazil and Colombia, Europe, India, and China, with a development pipeline exceeding 157,000 megawatts. Brookfield Asset Management holds a 60% ownership interest in the partnership, which trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange. Recent developments include the acquisition of Neoen in early 2025, positioning the company as one of the largest global operators and developers of battery storage solutions; a July 2025 agreement to invest up to $1 billion for a 15% incremental stake in Colombian hydro platform Isagen, enhancing baseload power capabilities; and the signing of initial contracts under a 20-year hydro framework agreement with Google for 670 megawatts from Pennsylvania facilities. In Q3 2025, Brookfield Renewable announced a transformational partnership with Westinghouse and Cameco tied to the U.S. government's $80 billion investment plan for new reactors, alongside commissioning approximately 1,800 megawatts of new capacity and targeting 8,000 megawatts for full-year 2025. The company anticipates asset sales proceeds exceeding prior-year levels in 2025, supports hyperscaler demand through deals like a 10.5-gigawatt agreement with Microsoft, and closed a U.S.$650 million offering to fund growth initiatives.
