Business
Bluestem Group Inc. (BGRP) is a holding company that operates multiple direct-to-consumer retail brands through its subsidiary Bluestem Brands, offering name-brand, private label and non-branded general merchandise via online platforms and catalogs to low- to middle-income consumers and mature-market customers in the United States. The company serves distinct segments through its Northstar Portfolio, encompassing Fingerhut and Gettington brands that provide consumer electronics, domestics, housewares, home furnishings, bed and bath products, lawn and garden items, hardware, video games, toys, sporting goods, footwear, cosmetics, fragrances and jewelry; and its Orchard Portfolio, including Tog Shop, WinterSilks, Appleseed's, Bedford Fair, Blair, Draper's & Damon's, Gold Violin, Haband, LinenSource, Norm Thompson, Old Pueblo Traders and Sahalie brands that offer apparel, accessories and home products for women and men. Bluestem Group targets credit seekers establishing or rebuilding credit via Fingerhut, as well as seniors and value-conscious shoppers seeking curated solutions, with operations headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, where it was incorporated in 1998 and renamed from Capmark Financial Group Inc. in June 2015. In October 2025, Bluestem Brands agrees to sell a $488 million face-value credit card portfolio, excluding its core retail operations, with the transaction set to close in the fourth quarter; the company previously acquired Orchard Brands Corporation to expand its portfolio.
