BHP Group Limited BHP Group Limited is a world-leading resources company that produces iron ore, higher-quality metallurgical coal for steelmaking, copper for electrification and renewable energy, nickel, and potash to support sustainable farming and food production; it also provides towing, freight, marketing, trading, and administrative services. Founded in 1885 and headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, BHP Group Limited operates mining assets in more than 90 locations across Australia, North America, South America, and other regions, with products sold globally to serve steel, energy transition, infrastructure, and agriculture sectors. In January 2025, BHP Group Limited completed a US$2.0 billion joint acquisition with Lundin Mining Corporation of Filo Corp. and formed the 50/50 Vicuña Corp. joint venture to develop the Filo del Sol and Josemaria copper projects in Argentina and Chile, marking a major expansion in its copper growth strategy amid focus on organic development in four key copper basins including Escondida in Chile and South Australian assets.
