Business
Kardemir Celik Sanayi AS, formerly known as Kardemir Haddecilik Sanayi ve Ticaret AS, is a Turkey-based integrated steel producer engaged in the manufacturing, processing, and distribution of long steel products and structural steel solutions. The company operates across vertically integrated manufacturing stages and provides a comprehensive portfolio of over 10,000 product specifications. Its core product offering comprises: semi-finished steel billets produced via electric arc furnace (EAF) melt shops; wire rods in standard, drawing, cold-heading, mesh, and welding grades; deformed reinforcing steel bars (rebar) for construction and civil engineering infrastructure; commercial merchant bars, including equal and unequal angles, flat bars, square bars, round bars, and T-profiles; and heavy structural steel profiles, including IPE, IPN, HEA, HEB, UPE, and UPN sections. In addition to primary steel manufacturing, the company operates integrated industrial support facilities, including on-site air separation units for industrial gas generation, carbon processing plants, and captive renewable energy installations comprising wind power plants (WPP) and solar photovoltaic (PV) facilities. Kardemir Celik Sanayi AS distributes its products domestically across Turkey and exports to more than 100 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas, serving construction, infrastructure development, industrial manufacturing, hardware, and automotive sectors. The company maintains an aggregate annual production capacity of approximately 2.5 million metric tons across seven manufacturing facilities situated in Izmir (Aliaga) and Denizli, Turkey, encompassing 1.2 million tons of crude steel billet capacity, 700,000 tons of profile rolling capacity, and 600,000 tons of wire rod and rebar rolling capacity. Founded in 1968 by Nevzat Karalp, the company is headquartered in Denizli, Turkey, with primary heavy industrial melt shop and rolling operations based in Aliaga, Izmir. In recent major corporate developments, the company completed its initial public offering (IPO) on the Borsa Istanbul under the ticker symbol KARCL in July 2026 to strengthen its working capital, expand production utilization, and secure raw material inventories. Furthermore, the company formally restructured and transitioned its corporate identity to Kardemir Celik Sanayi AS to align its branding with integrated manufacturing capabilities, while advancing green steel decarbonization programs through expanded investments in hybrid solar and wind renewable generation assets for self-consumption.
