- GSPL Transmission Limited is an India-based natural gas transmission infrastructure company that owns, operates, and develops an open-access natural gas pipeline network. Headquartered in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, the enterprise originated from the gas transmission business undertaking of Gujarat State Petronet Limited, which was founded in 1998, and was incorporated as an independent corporate entity in July 2024 before its equity shares commenced public trading on the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE in September 2026. The company operates within the energy utilities and midstream gas infrastructure sector, providing open-access transportation of natural gas and regasified liquefied natural gas from domestic production fields and maritime import terminals to regional consumption centers. Its core services and operational offerings include high-pressure natural gas pipeline transmission services; gas dispatching, flow control, and pressure regulation services; custody transfer, quality monitoring, and volumetric gas metering services; pipeline interconnections and intake infrastructure linking liquefied natural gas regasification terminals at Dahej, Hazira, Mundra, and Chhara to industrial demand hubs; last-mile spur line network development; and transmission capacity provisioning for thermal power generation plants, fertilizer manufacturing facilities, oil refineries, petrochemical producers, steel manufacturing units, and city gas distribution networks supplying compressed natural gas and piped natural gas. Beyond its core intrastate pipeline grid spanning over 2,800 kilometers across Gujarat, the company manages interstate cross-country pipeline infrastructure through joint venture entities, including GSPL India Gasnet Limited, which executes and operates the Mehsana-Bhatinda-Jammu-Srinagar and Bhatinda-Gurdaspur pipelines traversing Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir, and GSPL India Transco Limited, which develops the Mallavaram-Bhopal-Bhilwara-Vijaipur pipeline in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited. In recent major corporate developments, the company was established as a pure-play gas transmission utility pursuant to a comprehensive Composite Scheme of Amalgamation and Arrangement implemented across the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation group effective May 2026, under which the group gas trading and city gas distribution businesses were merged into Gujarat Gas Limited (subsequently renamed Gujarat Energy Limited), while the gas transmission business was demerged into GSPL Transmission Limited, resulting in a proportional share distribution to shareholders and the independent listing of its equity shares under the symbol GSPLTRANS in September 2026.
