Business
Uttam Sugar Mills Limited engages primarily in the production and sale of sugar and allied products. The company manufactures a wide range of sugar products including double refined sugar, plantation white sugar, pharmaceutical grade sugar, liquid sugar, specialty sugars, demerara sugar, invert sugar syrup, natural brown sugar, sulphur-free sugar, bura sugar, icing sugar, superfine sugar, mishri candi sugar, sachet sugar, table sugar, cube sugar, and caster sugar. It operates through three core segments: sugar production, cogeneration of power, and distillery operations focusing on ethanol production. The company’s cogeneration capacity totals 122 MW, and it has an ethanol production capacity of 300 kiloliters per day as of March 2024. Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, Uttam Sugar Mills Limited is a leading integrated sugarcane processing company in the country. It has scaled up its crushing capacity significantly over the years, currently operating at approximately 27,000 tonnes of cane crushed per day (TCD). The company sells its products under the Uttam brand both domestically and internationally. It also produces industrial alcohol and power as part of its diversified operations. In the recent 1-2 years, Uttam Sugar Mills has focused on capacity expansions, particularly through its subsidiary, Uttam Distilleries Limited, which has approved an increase in distillery capacity to bolster ethanol production. This strategic expansion supports the growing demand for ethanol in India’s biofuel sector. Additionally, the company has witnessed improved realizations in sugar and ethanol prices, which positively impact its financial performance. It continues to strengthen its integrated sugar complex with modern facilities to produce high-quality sulphur-less refined sugar along with its specialized product lines. Uttam Sugar Mills operates primarily in India with a significant presence in key sugarcane growing regions and extends its market reach internationally. As a part of the broader Uttam Group, it leverages its integrated operations across sugar manufacturing, cogeneration, and distillery segments to optimize value from sugarcane processing and related products. Overall, Uttam Sugar Mills Limited is a comprehensive sugar and allied products manufacturer with strategic expansions in ethanol and power generation capacities, focused on maintaining production quality and operational scale within the Indian and international markets.
