Business
Agria Group Holding JSC is a vertically integrated agricultural holding company headquartered in Varna, Bulgaria, operating across crop production, grain storage, edible oil processing, international commodity trading, and renewable energy. Founded in 2002 and publicly listed on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange under the ticker AGH, the company controls an integrated value chain primarily located in northeastern Bulgaria, managing approximately 15,000 hectares of cultivated agricultural land, comprehensive grain silo facilities, industrial processing assets, and logistics networks through approximately 20 operating subsidiaries. The company organizes its commercial activities into four principal operating segments: Agribusiness, Storage and Processing, Trade and Export, and Renewable Energy. Its comprehensive portfolio of products and services comprises agricultural crop cultivation, including milling wheat, feed barley, grain maize, oilseed sunflower, and rapeseed; grain storage, conditioning, drying, and silo warehousing services offering an aggregate holding capacity of approximately 290,000 metric tons across regional hubs in Popovo, Devnya, and Lyaskovets; edible oil production and processing carried out via subsidiary Kehlibar EOOD, comprising crude sunflower oil, refined bottled sunflower oil distributed under the proprietary Kehlibar brand, high-protein sunflower meal for livestock feed, and sunflower husk pellets used for biomass fuel; industrial grain processing outputs including animal feed compounds, agricultural residues, and grain-based alcohol distillation; international agricultural commodity trading, freight forwarding, export logistics, and commodity risk management across the Black Sea and Danube river basins; and renewable energy generation, including photovoltaic solar power generation and biomass thermal energy production utilizing processing by-products. Recent strategic developments include the agreement in August 2026 to sell 100 percent of sun oil trading subsidiary Agrivia Oil to optimize the group's asset portfolio, concentrate management capacity, and reduce market risks; the establishment in September 2025 of Swiss trading arm Agria Suisse Commodities SA in Lausanne, Switzerland, designed to broaden international commercialization, trade finance, and supply chain logistics for grains and oilseeds; and the acquisition of solar engineering and production firm Energy Solar Technologies AD in May 2025 through its renewable energy unit Bora Energy EOOD to expand the group's clean power generation footprint. Additionally, the group secured a 35 million euro project financing facility supported by the European Investment Bank and the InvestEU programme to construct a sustainable, zero-waste sunflower seed processing plant in Popovo targeted for completion in 2027, while advancing construction of the Agria Grain Port Terminal and logistics hub in the Beloslav area near the Port of Varna to strengthen deep-water export capacity for grains and vegetable oils.
