Bear State Financial, Inc. (BSF) operates as a bank holding company providing commercial banking, retail banking, mortgage banking, and wealth management services through its principal subsidiary Bear State Bank to individual, business, and government customers primarily in Arkansas. Bear State Bank offers deposit products including noninterest-bearing and interest-bearing checking accounts, savings and money market accounts, certificates of deposit, and individual retirement accounts; lending products such as one- to four-family residential real estate loans, multifamily residential real estate loans, nonfarm nonresidential loans, farmland loans, construction and land development loans, commercial real estate loans, commercial and industrial loans, consumer automobile loans, deposit account secured loans, unsecured loans, and lines of credit; and other services comprising online banking, mobile banking, telephone banking, automated teller machine services, debit cards, overdraft protection, bill payment, remote deposit capture, safe deposit boxes, treasury management, cash management, merchant services, equipment financing, and lines of credit. Through its Bear State Advisors subsidiary, the company provides wealth management solutions including investment management, retirement planning, estate planning, and trust administration; operations focus on Arkansas with branches in cities such as Little Rock, Hot Springs, Harrison, and Fayetteville, alongside historical presence in southeast Oklahoma and southwest Missouri. Founded in 1931 as First National Bank of Osceola and formerly known as First Federal Bancshares of Arkansas, Inc. until its name change in June 2014, Bear State Financial is headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas. In a major strategic development, Arvest Bank completed its acquisition of Bear State Financial in 2019 for approximately $391 million in cash, integrating Bear State Bank's branches, operations, and approximately $2.16 billion in assets into Arvest's footprint across Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas, with Bear State initially operating separately before full transition.
