Challenger Energy Group PLC (LON:CEG; OTC:BSHPF) is an AIM-listed Atlantic margin-focused energy company engaged in oil and gas exploration, appraisal, development and production; it holds a 40% interest in the offshore AREA OFF-1 block (14,557 square kilometers, partnered with Chevron) and 100% interest in the offshore AREA OFF-3 block (13,252 square kilometers) in Uruguay, operates three onshore producing fields in Trinidad and Tobago (Goudron, Inniss-Trinity, SWP with approximately 250 wells, 60 active producers generating cash flow), and owns 100% of four conjoined exploration licenses offshore The Bahamas. Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Castletown, Isle of Man, the company maintains operations across Uruguay, Trinidad and Tobago, The Bahamas, with offices in Port of Spain, Nassau, London and Houston. In October 2025, Sintana Energy Inc announced an all-share acquisition of Challenger, under which Sintana will acquire all issued and to-be-issued ordinary shares with Challenger shareholders receiving approximately 25% of the combined entity pending regulatory, stock exchange and shareholder approvals expected by end-2025; Challenger also advances a farm-out process for AREA OFF-3 targeting partner selection in Q1 2026 following 3D seismic reprocessing and geotechnical studies, while monetizing legacy Bahamas assets and expanding Trinidad production.
