Business
Burberry Group plc is a British luxury fashion house that designs, manufactures, and distributes premium apparel, accessories, and beauty products worldwide. Founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry and headquartered in London, England, the company offers iconic trench coats crafted from patented gabardine fabric at its Yorkshire mill and factory; check-patterned cashmere scarves produced in Scotland by partner Johnstons of Elgin; leather goods from Italian centres of excellence; women's products including coats, jackets, dresses, knitwear, makeup, fragrances, belts, jewelry, hats, gloves, umbrellas, sunglasses, and shoes; men's items such as shirts, polos, trousers, bags, wallets, ties, scarves, and footwear; as well as children's clothing and accessories. Burberry sells through 429 directly operated stores, concessions, outlets, wholesale partners, franchisees, digital commerce via Burberry.com, and licensing agreements for eyewear and beauty, serving customers across Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Americas, and other regions with a focus on high-end retail, department stores, and multi-brand specialty accounts. In 2024, the company launched its Burberry Forward strategic plan under CEO Joshua Schulman to reignite brand desire, reinforce outerwear authority, rebalance the product portfolio, amplify brand codes like British wit and London imagery, improve store productivity through 19 net new store openings, enhance in-store experiences with scarf bars and clienteling tools, address inventory overhang with a -7% reduction, initiate a cost savings programme delivering £24m in FY25, and strengthen creative-commercial alignment; it also secured a Royal Warrant as Outfitter by HM King Charles III and announced a multi-year collaboration to redevelop the Fashion Gallery into The Burberry Gallery by spring 2027.
