Business
Farmaceutica Remedia SA is a Romania-based healthcare company engaged in the wholesale distribution, retail marketing, logistics, and technical automation of pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical products. The company operates through two core business divisions comprising wholesale distribution and logistics, and retail pharmacy operations. Its commercial product and service portfolio includes prescription medications (Rx); over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceuticals across therapeutic segments such as cardiovascular, metabolic, pediatric, and oncological care; food supplements, dietary vitamins, and herbal formulations; dermato-cosmetic, hygiene, and personal care products; medical devices, diagnostic instruments, and sanitary consumables; primary and secondary pharmaceutical packaging materials; temperature-controlled warehousing, cold-chain storage, and nationwide freight distribution for international pharmaceutical manufacturers; medical promotion, regulatory affairs support, and product registration services; digital retail sales via its proprietary e-commerce platform; and advanced pharmacy automation solutions, consisting of the distribution, installation, and maintenance of BD Rowa robotic storage and dispensing systems for hospital pharmacies, retail drugstores, and wholesale distribution hubs. Founded in 1991 following the restructuring of the state-owned enterprise Oficiul Farmaceutic Deva (originally established in 1957) and listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol RMAH since 1996, the company is headquartered in Deva, Romania, and maintains key executive, administrative, and logistics facilities in Bucharest. Farmaceutica Remedia SA serves public and private hospitals, medical clinics, independent pharmacy networks, and retail consumers across Romania, while also exporting and installing automated pharmaceutical robotic systems across international markets including Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, and Israel. The company manages its supply chain, wholesale trading, and specialized logistics operations through its wholly owned subsidiary, Farmaceutica Remedia Distribution & Logistics SRL, and holds strategic minority equity stakes in Novoengrama SRL and Pharma Expert Spedition SRL. In recent corporate developments, Farmaceutica Remedia SA has implemented operational restructuring, strategic acquisitions, and technological expansions to optimize group performance. In late 2024, the company consolidated its operational footprint by transferring the management of 22 company-operated retail pharmacies to its subsidiary, Farmaceutica Remedia Distribution & Logistics SRL, streamlining intra-group administration and supply chain workflows. In January 2025, the company advanced its strategic investments in the healthcare sector by acquiring a 24 percent equity stake in medical services provider Novoengrama SRL. The organization has also expanded its technology integration partnership with BD Rowa, scaling automated dispensing deployments across Romanian commercial pharmacy networks and securing public healthcare robotics contracts, including automation installations for major medical institutions such as the Marie Curie Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Additionally, the group has continued to optimize its physical infrastructure by rationalizing regional logistics warehouses to focus on high-efficiency logistics hubs, expanded third-party representation agreements, and specialized marketing services for multinational pharmaceutical partners.
