- Argus SA is a Romania-based agribusiness and food processing company engaged in the crushing of oilseeds, the refining of vegetable oils, and the packaging and commercialization of edible oil products and agricultural by-products. Founded in 1943 and headquartered in Constanta, Romania, the company operates an integrated processing plant and serves consumer retail networks, commercial food service providers, industrial food manufacturers, and agricultural feed compounders across Romania and international export markets. Argus SA provides products and services structured across several key business lines: bottled consumer edible oils marketed under proprietary brands, including Argus, Tomis, Sorica, and Sora Soarelui, distributed in multiple polyethylene terephthalate container formats; bulk refined vegetable oils, comprising refined sunflower oil and refined rapeseed oil for food production; bulk unrefined vegetable oils, consisting of crude sunflower oil, crude rapeseed oil, and degummed rapeseed oil for industrial applications; agricultural by-products, including high-protein sunflower meal and forage grist for animal feed formulations, fluid and solid fatty acids, and biofuel pellets; and industrial processing services, encompassing custom seed crushing, oil refining, and contract packaging. In November 2025, Bulgarian agricultural commodities and vegetable oil group Buildcom EOOD, an affiliate of oil producer Oliva AD, acquired a 91.42% controlling majority stake in Argus SA from Infinity Capital Investments SA, transferring majority control of the company and its agricultural storage and logistics subsidiary, Comcereal SA Tulcea. Following the ownership change, Argus SA implemented operational reorganizations, secured new intra-group financing facilities from Buildcom EOOD to refinance existing bank debt and support operational liquidity, and entered into a major multi-month processing agreement with Oliva AD to crush approximately 12,000 metric tons of sunflower seeds per month.
