Business
Agroindustrial Laredo SAA is a Peru-based agribusiness and agro-industrial manufacturing company primarily engaged in the cultivation, harvesting, milling, refining, and commercialization of sugarcane and associated industrial by-products, as well as biomass-based electrical energy cogeneration. Founded in 1997 and operating as a subsidiary of Colombia-based agro-industrial conglomerate Grupo Manuelita, the company is headquartered in the Laredo District, Trujillo Province, La Libertad Region, Peru, and conducts its primary agricultural and processing operations throughout the Santa Catalina and Chicama valleys. The company operates through three principal business segments: Sugar Manufacturing, Agro-industrial By-Products, and Renewable Energy. Agroindustrial Laredo SAA offers an extensive product and service portfolio comprising high-purity refined white sugar for industrial food and beverage manufacturers; extra-fine refined sugar for domestic consumer packaging and retail distribution; standard brown sugar (azúcar rubia) for institutional and commercial markets; sugarcane molasses (mieles and melaza) utilized in animal feed formulation, commercial fermentation, and alcohol production; sugarcane bagasse utilized as fibrous raw material for paper pulp and renewable boiler fuel; filter cake (cachaza) deployed as organic soil conditioner and bio-fertilizer; industrial and rectified ethyl alcohol; and surplus electric power generated from biomass-fired cogeneration units supplied directly to the Peruvian National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN). The company distributes its products across domestic Peruvian commercial channels and supplies major multinational food processors, beverage bottlers, agricultural enterprises, and national grid operators. In recent operational and strategic developments, Agroindustrial Laredo SAA has executed comprehensive capital modernization programs focused on upgrading industrial milling extraction efficiency, modernizing steam turbine capacity, and expanding automated drip-irrigation infrastructure across its cultivated estates to strengthen climate resilience against El Niño weather anomalies in northern Peru. The company has also intensified its sustainable agriculture initiatives, maintaining international Bonsucro sustainability and FSSC 22000 food safety certifications, enhancing biological pest control programs, and expanding surplus clean energy contributions to Peru's national power grid.
