Business
Broadwind, Inc. is a precision manufacturer of structures, equipment, and components primarily serving the clean technology, energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors in the United States. The company operates through three main segments: Heavy Fabrications, which produces steel towers, adapters, and large fabrications primarily for wind turbine manufacturers and the hydroelectric market; Gearing, which provides gearboxes, gearing systems, and heat treat services for onshore and offshore oil and gas, mining, wind energy, steel, material handling, and other infrastructure applications; and Industrial Solutions, which delivers supply chain solutions including instrumentation and controls, valve assemblies, sensor devices, fuel system components, electrical junction boxes and wiring, energy storage services, electromechanical devices, light fabrication, inventory management, kitting and assembly services, packaging solutions, and fabrication for panels and sub-assemblies mainly for the combined cycle natural gas turbine market. Broadwind sells its products and services through a direct sales force and independent agents primarily to energy, mining, and industrial customers. Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Cicero, Illinois, Broadwind changed its name from Broadwind Energy, Inc. to Broadwind, Inc. in May 2020 to reflect its broader market focus. In its recent strategic developments, Broadwind has focused on market diversification by expanding its industrial solutions and heavy fabrications capabilities, including its entry into the hydroelectric market with substantial new fabrication orders. The company is advancing technological upgrades to its fabrication machinery to improve processing efficiency and reduce costs. It also achieved a 55% reduction in its recordable incident rate in 2024, underscoring a strong commitment to workplace safety. Broadwind is actively pursuing growth in adjacent high-margin industrial markets such as aerospace and medical technology, leveraging its precision manufacturing expertise. The company’s leadership emphasizes the competitive advantages of its 100% U.S.-based manufacturing footprint and quality-driven production to capitalize on pro-domestic manufacturing policies. Recent financial performance shows improved order intake, with a 25% revenue growth reported in 2025 and a stronger order backlog supported by demand across diversified end markets, positioning the company for continued profitable growth and operational efficiency enhancements. Broadwind’s comprehensive product portfolio, strategic market expansions, and focused operational improvements position it well within the specialty industrial machinery sector, predominantly serving clients facing stringent quality standards and complex project requirements in the Americas.
