- Capex S.A. is an integrated Argentine energy company engaged in the exploration, development, and production of oil and gas, electric power generation from thermal and renewable sources, and the processing and commercialization of liquid hydrocarbons. Founded in 1988 and headquartered in Vicente Lopez, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, the company operates across four primary business segments: Oil and Gas, Electric Energy, Liquefied Petroleum Gas, and Hydrogen and Oxygen.
The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of energy products and services, including the exploration and extraction of conventional and unconventional crude oil and natural gas; electric power generation through its Agua del Cajon combined-cycle thermal power plant with an aggregate installed capacity of approximately 672 megawatts in Neuquen Province; renewable electric energy generation through its Diadema Wind Farm in Chubut Province; natural gas processing and fractionation services; production and wholesale distribution of liquefied petroleum gas, including commercial propane and butane; production of natural gasoline for industrial and petrochemical applications; and generation of green hydrogen and industrial-grade oxygen through water electrolysis powered by wind energy. Capex S.A. supplies electricity to the Argentine Wholesale Electricity Market managed by CAMMESA, delivers natural gas to transport and distribution utility networks, and sells liquid hydrocarbons and crude oil to domestic refiners, industrial off-takers, and regional export markets.
The company conducts upstream exploration and production activities primarily in the Neuquen Basin and the Golfo San Jorge Basin across the provinces of Neuquen, Rio Negro, and Chubut, holding concession interests in key fields including Agua del Cajon, Loma Negra, La Yesera, Puesto Zuniga, Pampa del Castillo-La Guitarra, and Bella Vista Oeste. In recent strategic developments, Capex S.A. has actively expanded its upstream portfolio through participation in YPF S.A.'s mature field divestment program (Project Andes), securing acquisition agreements for conventional exploration and exploitation concessions in the Neuquen and Rio Negro basins to optimize regional operating synergies. Additionally, the company has advanced the expansion of its renewable power generation infrastructure with the development of the Diadema II wind farm project, executed concession term extensions with provincial hydrocarbon authorities, and issued series of negotiable obligations (Obligaciones Negociables) in the capital markets to refinance debt maturities and fund ongoing capital expenditure programs across its power and upstream hydrocarbon assets.
