Business
CCL Industries Inc. is a global specialty packaging company and the largest label manufacturer in the world, headquartered in Toronto, Canada, with additional corporate offices in Framingham, Massachusetts. Founded in 1951, CCL Industries operates approximately 213 production facilities across 42 countries, employing around 26,300 people. The company is organized into four main reporting segments: CCL Label, Avery, Checkpoint, and Innovia, providing a wide range of products and services including pressure-sensitive and specialty extruded film labels for decorative, functional, instructional, security, and sustainability applications. Its product portfolio serves diverse end markets including home and personal care, premium food and beverage, healthcare and specialty, automotive and durables, consumer electronics, and government institutions. The core products and services include pressure-sensitive labels; consumer printable media products; technology-driven label solutions such as RFID labels offered by Checkpoint Systems; polymer banknote substrates; aluminum aerosols and bottles; foam tapes; and security and access control products under the Avery brand. CCL Design segment also delivers advanced electronic labels and printed battery technologies integrated for smart labels. The company emphasizes sustainable packaging solutions, including innovations in circular economy initiatives and eco-friendly materials. Recent major changes include completing the full acquisition of its Middle East joint venture Pacman-CCL in June 2024, consolidating operations across the UAE, Oman, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan under the CCL Label segment. The company launched new product innovations such as the 5400 LSE series acrylic foam tapes by CCL Design, and expanded RFID technological offerings showcased at Labelexpo 2024, aiming to enhance tracking, inventory management, and security across industries. In 2025, CCL completed multiple bolt-on acquisitions, including Humphreys Holdings Limited to expand Avery’s portfolio in access control and badging technologies, and integrated the intellectual property of Imprint Energy Inc. for ultrathin printed battery technology. CCL also opened a new wine and spirits label production hub in Italy as part of geographic expansion. Financially, CCL Industries reported record annual revenues of approximately CDN$7.2 billion for 2024, driven by organic growth, acquisitions, and favorable currency translation, alongside a strategic focus on operational efficiency and innovation. The company projects continued capital investments in greenfield expansions and technology upgrades worldwide. CCL serves a global customer base with a commitment to advancing specialty packaging solutions across multiple continents and industry sectors.
