Charter Financial Corporation (NASDAQ:CHFN) is a savings and loan holding company and the parent of CharterBank, a federally-chartered savings bank that provides retail and commercial banking products and services to individuals and businesses primarily in the southeastern United States. The company offers deposit products including checking accounts, money market accounts, regular savings accounts, term certificate accounts, and noninterest-bearing demand deposits; lending products such as commercial real estate loans, one- to four-family residential mortgage loans, construction loans, commercial business loans, home equity loans and lines of credit, consumer loans including loans on deposits, automobile loans, mobile home loans, and other installment loans; and community banking services comprising online banking and bill payment, mobile banking, online cash management, safe deposit box rentals, debit and ATM card services, cash management, internet banking, mobile deposits, e-statements, telephone banking, credit card merchant services, and VISA debit cards. Charter Financial Corporation operates through a network of 22 branch offices located in Metro Atlanta, the I-85 corridor south to Auburn, Alabama, and the Florida Gulf Coast; it maintains its headquarters in West Point, Georgia, where it was founded in 1954. The company continues to serve its core markets in community banking with no major acquisitions, partnerships, funding rounds, or strategic shifts reported in the last one to two years.
