The China Fund, Inc. (NYSE: CHN) is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company that seeks long-term capital appreciation primarily through investments in equity securities of China companies, including those listed in the People's Republic of China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), or companies deriving at least 50% of revenues or assets from China; it invests across diversified sectors such as consumer discretionary, insurance, entertainment, machinery, electrical equipment, beverages, hotels, restaurants, leisure, internet/e-commerce, health care, life insurance, media, travel, transportation, property, wealth management, energy, and commodities, employing a fundamental bottom-up stock selection process combined with quantitative analysis, focusing on growth-at-a-reasonable-price with emphasis on governance, management quality, capital efficiency, and sustainable cash flows; the fund benchmarks against the MSCI Golden Dragon Index and maintains a policy to invest at least 80% of assets in China companies, managed by portfolio managers at Matthews Asia including Andrew Mattock, Winnie Chwang, and Sherwood Zhang.
